A Houston expert looks at marketing from an investor’s perspective

Can you imagine being a taco lover? If so, you’re really going to eat a new job offer at Favor Delivery Service.

Owned by San Antonio-based grocery chain HEB, Favor is looking for its very first taco manager. Yes, a director of tacos – not to be confused with another type of CTO (chief technology officer).

“The company will pay an energetic, hungry, socially savvy Texan $10,000 to find the best tacos in the state this summer,” Favor said in a press release.

In addition to the $10,000 salary, Favor will provide food, accommodation, and transportation in each city, as well as wellness activities such as massages and yoga classes. Plus, the taco maker will receive personalized Favor swag and one year of free Favor shipping.

“Tacos are one of the most popular foods in every city we serve across Texas,” says Jag Bath, CEO of Favor. “The history and culture behind one of the Lone Star State’s most iconic foods varies from city to city, and we’re thrilled to have our new taco director discover some of the best and most authentic tacos around. .”

Texas residents over the age of 21 can apply. Applicants must create and share a short video explaining why they should be Favor’s taco manager and submit a short form on Favor’s application page. The application deadline is Thursday, May 12 at 11:59 p.m.

Favor’s head taco officer may want to stock up on digestive aids, given the massive amount of tacos they’re likely to consume. In 2015, Texas monthly compiled a list of 120 Texan tacos “you must eat before you die.” The list highlighted taco vendors in 15 areas of the state, from Amarillo to Corpus Christi.

Incidentally, Austin-based outdoor service provider LawnStarter recently crowned Austin the best city in the state for tacos, followed by Round Rock, Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston. But if Favor’s chief taco officer drives through Texas all summer, they’re bound to visit dozens of cities that might argue they deserve the title.

And maybe Favor’s taco manager will do us a favor and break the shell of Rent.com’s recent ranking of Texas as the second-largest state for tacos, behind California. Everything is bigger in Texas, right? This includes our appetite for tacos – and our prowess in producing them.
