City of Geraldton launches new tourism marketing campaign to bring Perth Peel and the South West to the North
Images of the Mid West have been plastered on Perth buses, billboards and train stations as part of a tourism marketing blitz.
The City of Greater Geraldton says the Greater Escape campaign aims to improve tourism marketing efforts around Perth over the next month and entice people to travel north, in the hope that tourists will stop in Geraldton rather than passing.
Working with digital agency Perth Is OK!, the campaign will promote Geraldton and town family holiday activities, hospitality venues and a top 10 list of things to see and do.
The Mid West advertisement will be visible on buses, billboards and stations in Perth’s CBD from March to June.
The campaign is also part of the town’s efforts to market Greater Geraldton and win gold at the GWN7 Top Tourism Town Awards 2022 after the town was named a finalist.
Mayor Shane Van Styn said winning the title would help Geraldton bring more people to experience the beauty of the area.
“Geraldton has the best of coastal town living – we have a vibrant CBD, exciting local operators, breathtaking natural assets, near-perfect year-round weather, world-class events and a welcoming community” , did he declare.
The town is urging residents and tourists to vote for the town as their favorite destination after Geraldton was named a finalist in the GWN Top Tourism Town Awards.
“We have a great competition and are calling on everyone who has visited, planned a trip or lives here to help us claim the title of Top Tourism Town for 2022,” Mr Van Styn said.
Voting closes Tuesday May 24th and the winner will be announced at the Perth WA Airport Tourism Conference on Wednesday June 22nd.
