A statement announcing the news said: “Family vacations are all about making memories and spending time together, and for 2022 County Leitrim is renewing its focus on the domestic market for 2022, seeking to attract even more families. to explore, experience and enjoy the ‘hidden gem of the heart.
“The county has benefited from recent demand for stays in Ireland, as Irish visitors seek less-traveled destinations that offer more space, solace and outdoor opportunities to enjoy time together again.
Leitrim Tourism, which is responsible for promoting County Leitrim, is launching a new online video today as part of a twelve month marketing campaign to capitalize on the domestic market aimed at attracting more Irish visitors to the Northwest this year The video campaign will be broadcast on social media along with a bespoke advertising campaign in cinemas in eastern Canada.
The new 30-second family-themed video features spectacular drone footage and some of Leitrim’s most iconic sights, showcasing the best in activities and inspiration for a Leitrim family vacation.
Commenting on the launch of the video campaign, Sinead McDermott, Tourism Officer for Leitrim, said: “From tranquil landscapes to bustling villages with great restaurants, County Leitrim offers the best of family vacation inspiration for 2022; aquatic adventures like stand up paddle boarding and canoeing. are still very popular, as well as biking on the Blue Road and boating vacations on the Shannon. From walking trails through North Leitrim to Glencar Waterfall, Fowley’s Falls and, there are inspiring landscapes and picnic areas dotted across the county. ‘
“The campaign coincides with the launch of a new Leitrim Walks brochure featuring routes of the majesty of Arroo Mountain and the wild highlands of Sliabh an Iarainn.
“Hidden Heart County offers a lot of what this year’s Irish visitor is looking for; open and uncrowded spaces, vibrant towns and villages and great hospitality.
“It’s not just water adventures; Co. Leitrim also has a range of historic and heritage sites ranging from Parkes Castle to Costello Chapel, Glenview Museum to Creevelea Abbey, Sean MacDiarmada Estate to Fenagh Abbey; explore monastic ruins and stories from another era.
“From time spent with friends to family vacations, the county provides the most ideal backdrop for reconnecting and spending time together this year.

“Leitrim Tourism’s campaign will also build on Failte Ireland’s Irish destination Hidden Heartlands brand campaign.
“This project received a grant from the Leitrim Local Community Development Committee under the Rural Development Program which is funded by the Irish Government under the Ireland Rural Development Program 2014-2020 and by the European Agricultural Fund for rural development: Europe is investing in rural areas. “
