“The One-Week Marketing Plan: The Set It & Forget It Approach to Growing Your Business Quickly” offers a one-week targeted marketing campaign for less than $300.
In The One-Week Marketing Plan: The Set It & Forget It Approach to Growing Your Business Fast, Mark Satterfield makes a very bold claim, even for a marketing book. The author claims he can help most businesses (small to medium) improve their marketing in a week with a budget of $300 or less.
That’s right. Your marketing should be set after just one week.
Who wouldn’t read a book with that kind of offer?
How to get your marketing done in a week
Satterfield’s Book One week marketing plan is divided into two sections. Most of the book (and the reader’s attention) will be devoted to the first section, which details five days of marketing plans and step-by-step model readers. In the five chapters that make up this section, the authors address issues such as:
- How to share your offer online.
- Develop a system to move these potential customers to interested visitors.
- Monitoring the effectiveness of your marketing system.
Each chapter highlights several options and strategies that can be adapted to meet individual marketing needs and situations. As an example, the author details the outline of an email marketing campaign. This is followed by templates for each email. All readers have to do is type them in with all the marketing details and send them.
The second half of the book, titled “Strategic Marketing Boosts,” is a smaller section intended to complement your one-week marketing plan. Some of the topics covered include blogging, video marketing, and public relations. Like the first section, however, the author provides resources, templates, and examples to guide readers. The book ends with three short summaries on outsourcing, SEO, and a reluctant marketer’s toolkit.
How it works One week marketing plan Pile on other books?
One week marketing plan delivers on its promise to help marketers come up with an actionable marketing plan in a week (5 days to be exact), especially if you’re a beginner. This book presents information that marketers (especially newbies) in any business are looking for answers to. These questions include:
- What should I put in a marketing email?
- What am I blogging about?
- How can I use social media to increase site traffic?
Whether or not you can implement the marketing plan in a week is something that remains to be seen. As many internet marketers can attest, it can take much longer than a week to get people interested in your product or even to plan a campaign. There are many factors to consider and many channels to consider and it takes time to develop and refine a marketing message in this crowded internet space. If you are unfamiliar with the tools mentioned in a chapter, learning them will also take longer than a week.
Although the book covers a lot of ground, it leaves out several social media channels that could be a major source of traffic. This includes YouTube, Pinterest and Instagram. That was a bit surprising, considering the book was released in 2014.
Either way, the book’s focus on creating a targeted, low-cost marketing campaign is well worth the effort. The focus on a lead generation and nurturing system is a unique feature not found in many marketing books. Most marketing books simply throw lots of strategies at readers, leaving them to hope for the best. One week marketing plan makes the decent attempt to create a foundation for small business owners and entrepreneurs to market online.
